My Selkie Love

The far horizons won’t let me go
They pull and they tug at my soul
From just beyond the graven sky
I hear the scream of the selkie’s cry

Where in the far beyond do we try
As listening again, hoping not to hear
For its with the knowing that we’d
Die ourselves if our kin so demands

Sidhe of the waves and coastal tides
One-time lover from ages long past
Siring offspring from whom I descend
Beauteous Selkie’s skin captured mine

Sound of the gulls, ‘tis said,
Once heard by one of my kin
For forever after a yearning
Burning in the heart for return

Wondrous lover who owns my heart,
Once claimed by the waves yet returned
You’ve called my name o’er the calm
As crashing waves seared in the storm

With grand passions I yearn to touch,
To caress your soft fae surreal flesh
As only one possessed as me could do
In love with the Lady, body and soul

I need not even your touch to become
Aroused of the flesh unto a sacred fire
As though unscathed surpassing my pyre
You lead me, guide me, through the flame

Selkie faire, womanly seal of forever desire
I hear the crashing surf in your calm smile
And see the gray of Skye glide o’er your eyes
As, yes, mesmerized, I begin to explore

You’ve found me, my sacred flame of the sea,
Soft and warm amongst the cold gray there
So readily loved – and readily sharing love
As we embrace and share our rare passions

Are you of my fancy, a fantasy unawares
Or warm-bodied sorceress of your own?
Whoever you are, or what, as may be,
Matters not, for its in love we remain…
